In the Wachau World Heritage Site, those seeking recreation will find a precious treasure: the Wachau World Heritage Trail. Nowhere else can the Danube be hiked more beautifully.

On 180 km north and south of the Danube lies the Wachau World Heritage Trail.

The trail stretches like a ribbon between the 13 municipalities of the Wachau UNESCO World Heritage Site. Joy as far as the eye can see: river and forest alternate. A wealth of castles, palaces and ruins await with history along the way. Amid vineyards and steep stone terraces. And then there is the Jauerling, the highest mountain on the Danube at 960 meters.

There is great scope for hikers of all levels. On 14 stages with different lengths and difficulty levels, hikers can choose the most beautiful paths. In combination with the Jauerling circuit (90 km, seven stages) as well as three ferry connections, it will be your top hiking vacation.
